Giovanni Reyna to make Premier League move on final day of January transfer window

Giovanni Reyna is set to join Nottingham Forest from Borussia Dortmund on the final day of the transfer window after the two clubs reached an agreement on a loan deal.

The 21-year-old has attracted interest from several European sides in recent weeks as he looked for Game time having fallen down the pecking order with the German outfit. As reported by journalist Florian Plettenberg, Reyna will fly to the UK today (Wednesday) to undergo a medical before officially completing his move to Forest.

Reyna’s deal

The USA international will join on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign and there will be a buy option in the region of €15million to €20m included for Forest, with agent Jorge Mendes being instrumental in the deal between the parties.

Reyna in 2023-24

Reyna, who has 18 months remaining on his current deal with Dortmund, has failed to score a goal or provide an assist in 2023-24, with head coach Edin Terzic only handing him two starts since the beginning of the season.

The recent arrival of fellow wideman Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United meant that Reyna was going to feature even less in the second half of the campaign and the emergence of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens had also impacted Reyna’s Game time at the Westfalenstadion. A move to Forest could provide him with the right platform to demonstrate his ability ahead of the Copa América with the USA this summer.
