Marcus Rashford names Man City duo as Premier League's best players of last five years

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has named two rival players from Manchester City as the Premier League's top performers over the last half-decade. Rashford is coming off the back of a career-best season with the Red Devils, scoring 30 goals in all competitions during Erik ten Hag's first campaign in charge. Under the guidance of the Dutchman, Man Utd enjoyed one of their most successful seasons of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, finishing third in the Premier League and winning the Carabao Cup to end their six-year trophy drought. However, they were beaten by Man City to a second piece of silverware at Wembley. Anthony Elanga joins Nottingham Forest on permanent transfer

It's a proud moment, not only for me, but for my family as well. It's the perfect next step for me in my career, it's a big step and I'm really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at The City Ground," Elanga said. "I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place. I've been here with United, and from the minute I stepped out for the warm-up, I could hear them from the changing room. It's a special place, but being here with Forest, I feel like it will be even more special." READ MORE F

Fulham reject £50m West Ham offer for Joao Palhinha

Fulham have rejected a £50m bid from West Ham United for star midfielder Joao Palhinha, 90min understands. The Hammers are in desperate need of quality midfield reinforcements this summer after selling their captain Declan Rice to Arsenal. West Ham have targeted Fulham's Palhinha as a perfect replacement for Rice thanks to his stunning 2022/23 campaign. Benjamin Mendy found not guilty of rape and attempted rape

Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty on one count of rape and another of attempted rape. The former Manchester City left-back had been accused of raping a woman in October 2020 and attempting to rape a different woman two years earlier. Both incidents were alleged to have taken place at his home. Mendy was found not guilty on six counts of rape earlier this year but an additional two charges were moved to a retrial this summer. He has now been cleared on both charges by a 12-person jury at Chester Crown Court. Mendy was first charged by Cheshire Constabulary back in August 2021 and remanded into custody while still under contract with Man City. His contract expired at the end of June having not played for the club in nearly two years. The 28-year-old made 75 appearances for Man City after joining from Monaco in 2017, while he was also part of the France squad that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Martin Odegaard pulls out of Arsenal team to face Nurnberg

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was forced to pull out of the starting lineup at the last minute for the club’s opening pre-season friendly against Nurnberg on Thursday evening. Odegaard was named in a strong XI by manager Mikel Arteta for the Game at the Max Morlock Stadion and was set to partner Thomas Partey and Leandro Trossard in midfield. But Odegaard wasn’t among the players that walked out onto the pitch for kick-off, much to the confusion of supporters. Arsenal then quickly confirmed that the Norway international, who took his game to new levels in 2022/23 as the club challenged for the Premier League title for the first time in 15 years, had suffered a knock during the warm-up. Gabriel took the armband in his place. The exact nature of the injury has not been specified, but it is not an ideal start for a season in which the Gunners are hoping to remain competitive in the Premier League and upon their return to the Champions League.
