Liverpool director sends warning to Man Utd & Real Madrid over Harry Kane pursuit

Any club that signs Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer would be one that 'doesn’t care about value for money' according to the leader of Liverpool's transfer analysis team, Dr Ian Graham. Even if Levy could be convinced to sell Kane, it would take an enormous transfer fee which would put Kane among the most expensive players in History - the sort of deal which Graham, Liverpool's director of research, believes would be a huge risk. Asked which club will end up signing Kane this summer, Graham told the Cheltenham Science Festival: "A club that doesn’t care about value for money." Graham added: "He’s 29. Man Utd 2022/23 season review: Erik ten Hag era begins with immense promise

Image
Manchester United enjoyed a strong season in 2022/23 that, while far from perfect, suggested the club is finally on its way back to seriously competing for the biggest honours. Under Erik ten Hag, United continued to endure some real low points, including back-to-back defeats to start the season , as well as thrashings at the hands of both Manchester City and Liverpool. But there was equally plenty to be happy about as the team played with a proper identity for what felt like the first time in a long time and ended a six-year trophy drought by picking up the Carabao Cup. There is still work to do and United have had a number of false dawns in the 10 years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. But this time feels different, like it will be sustained with the right backing. Away from the pitch, the increasingly complicated takeover process rumbles on, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani vying to assume control, albeit with the Glazer family seemingly unsure and arguing

When asked why he couldn't banish the links with Spurs, he said: "Because I think I deserve to enjoy this moment just like everyone else. I worked really hard for this moment. "I owe it to my friends and to my family. I get why you have to ask the question, but from my perspective, I deserve to enjoy this moment. "There will be a time to come for those kinds of questions but for now, we've grasped a small chunk of History for ourselves and I'm not going to pass that by by being side tracked." 90min understands the finishing touch

Liverpool handed Darwin Nunez boost ahead of 2023/24 season

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has been left out of Marcelo Bielsa's first Uruguay squad for the June internationals, allowing the 23-year-old to focus on his recovery from a toe injury. 'El Loco' has decided to call upon several young and uncapped players for his first Game s in charge of La Celeste, who will take on Nicaragua and Cuba in two friendlies in Montevideo later this month. While the likes of Tottenham's Rodrigo Bentancur will miss out through serious injury, Nunez is among several big-name stars who have been overlooked, with reports from South America suggesting Bielsa wants to evaluate players on the fringes of previous squads and those coming through Uruguay's youth setups. Real Madrid's Federico Valverde and Chelsea transfer target Manuel Ugarte have also been omitted from the squad. Nunez missed Liverpool's final three games of the 2022/23 season due to a toe injury, and though he stepped up his recovery in the last week of the campaign, he

The 24-year-old is out of contract in 2024 and Chelsea have told the midfielder he will be sold if no extension is agreed. Talks over a new deal have stalled in recent months, though Chelsea always held out hope of persuading their homegrown star to remain.
