Paul Pogba reacts to doping ban: what did the Juventus midfield say about his four-year suspension?

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has spoken after being hit with a four -year suspension from soccer after failing a drug test. Earlier on Thursday, Italy’s anti- doping court handed down the maximum punishment under the World Anti-Doping Code to the Frenchman, who was found to have tested positive for DHEA. Why did Pogba opt not to negotiate a plea bargain? It was revealed in September Pogba had returned the positive test after Juventus’ match away to Udinese on 20 August, which he was an unused substitute. A B sample confirmed the substance was in his system after his initial test came back positive. The 30 year old decided not to negotiate a plea bargain for a two-year ban with Italy’s anti-doping agency, with Pogba’s lawyers unsuccessfully hoping to prove he had accidentally ingested the substance that had led to the positive test. Liverpool maintain interest in Levi Colwill despite signing six-year Chelsea contract

Liverpool are still monitoring Chelsea defender Levi Colwill even though he signed a new contract running until 2029 at Stamford Bridge last summer,  90min  understands. Colwill was courted by Liverpool upon returning to Chelsea following a successful loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion during the 2022/23 season, helping the Seagulls to a club record-high sixth-placed Premier League finish. Despite interest from Liverpool and Brighton over a permanent deal, Colwill put pen to paper on a new six -year contract with the option for a further year at Chelsea in August. Sources have told  90min  that the Reds remain huge admirers of Colwill and will continue to watch him closely in case a potential exit route from Chelsea materialises. Liverpool have long been keen on Colwill since his days on loan at Huddersfield Town, but Chelsea are absolutely not interested in selling the 20-year-old, seeing him as a potential future captain - he skippered the team in their 2-1 loss at Manchest...
